Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda was nearly kicked out of parliament on Tuesday afternoon for lack of a facemask.
Rugunda who is the Head of National COVID-19 Taskforce was attending plenary at parliament when he was brought to order by Kilak South MP Gilbert Olanya. MP Olanya questioned why the Prime Minister was not leading by example and not wearing a facemask despite the fact that all the MP present were wearing one.
In her ruling, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga said that PM Rugunda was not in order to appear in public before a facemask.
Hardly a minute after the Speaker’s ruling, Rugunda stared around and managed to get a facemask before returning to the floor of parliament.
