President Yoweri Museveni has fired KCCA Executive Director Eng. Andrew Kitaka, His Deputy Samuel Sserunkuma and other top officials in the latest shakeup.
In a letter that leaked to the media, Museveni ordered the immediate interview of Ms. Dorothy Kisaka for the Executive Director job.
He further ordered that Eng David Luyimbazi be interviewed for Deputy Executive Director.
The shakeup follows Museveni’s warning that his government would crack the whip on corrupt officials.
KCCA for example has for long been under scrutiny over failure to supervise the road network in Kampala.
Recently, the institution came under fire for allegedly swindling Billions of Money meant for the management of COVID-19.
When asked, officials claimed to have used the money for the supervision of food distribution which is also under the docket of the office of the Prime Minister.
What led to Eng Andrew Kitaka’s dismissal months into his renewed contract?
In a related development, KCCA Spokesperson Peter Kaujju is rumored to be joining Umeme as the head of Communications. We are yet to confirm this.
