Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has confirmed that the much anticipated committee report on age limit will be tabled on Monday next week.
Kadaga confirmed this while chairing a parliamentary sitting on Thursday afternoon amidst anxiety from MPs and the public on the pending age limit Bill. It is worth noting that the public has since Tuesday expected parliament to receive the committee report in vain amidst tight security within and outside parliament.
“I have received a report from the committee on legal and parliamentary affairs and I have also received a minority report from the same committee on the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2017. We shall therefore convene on Monday at 9am so that we have sufficient time to debate the two reports,” Kadaga said.
Last week, Legal committee headed by Markson Oboth Oboth concluded their 3 day retreat in Kigo where they came up with a report which will now be presented on Monday. If adopted, this report will lead to the second reading of the Bill.
