Joel Ssenyonyi, the spokesperson of Bobi Wine and his National for Unity Platform (NUP) has declared his parliamentary bid for the newly created Nakawa West Constituency.
Ssenyonyi, journalist by profession recently quit media to become the spokesperson of Bobi Wine’s People Power pressure group which ‘bought’ and took over NUP political party. He was working with NTV as a news anchor before joining politics.
He broke the news on Twitter confirming that he will contest for a parliamentary seat in 2021.
“Nakawa West Constituency, here we come. The parishes there in are; Kyanja, Bukoto 1, Bukoto 2, Naguru 1, Naguru 2, Ntinda, Kiwatule, Banda, Kyambogo, Nabisunsa, ITEK, UPK and Upper Estate,” he tweeted.
Nakawa West is among the new constituencies that were recently created. Other 46 new counties were created by parliament last month. They include; Kiboga West, Buhweju West, Bugangaizi South, Chkwi East, Bulanda, Kwania North, Kagoma North, Buwekula South, Buyanja East, Ngariam, Agago West, Bukanga North, Bukimbiri and Nakaseke Central.
Others that have been approved by Parliament are; Kapir, Butiru, Kioga North, Bokora East, Napore West, Mawogola West, Otuke East, Ruhama East, Isingiro West, T’oo, Ochero, Soi, Namisindwa, Gweri, Pingire, Bunghoko Central, Aringa East, Kyaka Central, Ruhinda South, Bushigai, Gogonyo, Busiki North, West Budama North East, Maruzi North, Dodoth North, Rwampara East, Buhaguzi East, Nwoya East, Namayengo South, Elgon North and Samia-Bugwe South.
