Yesterday night the country was left in shock after the Commander in Chief President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made a very resounding reshuffle which saw General Edward Katumba Wamala be moved from the post of the Commander of the Defence forces (CDF) to state minister for works.
According to intelligence reports that Telesqop managed to gather, General Wamala had tried to resign more than twice from his post as CDF after feeling that his position was being greatly undermined by some junior officers. It said that at one point when the General had travelled to Somalia and end up clashing with Major General Muhoozi Kainerugaba on issues regarding protocol.
On his return, it's said that Gen. Wamala went directly to State House Entebbe to meet the President and hand in his resignation but it was not welcomed.
Telesqop also learnt that when the raid on Kasese happened, Gen Wamala was left in the dark about the whole ordeal and also got to know about it in the press like any other ordinary Ugandan. It was at this point that the General realised that he was only in place as ceremonial CDF with no actual powers. It's without surprise that he was actually 'sacked' last night.
