Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere will have to enjoy more
nights in prison as his bail application was adjourned, Monday.

At the same time, Rwenzururu Prince Swalleh Tibamwenda Basikania
has clandestinely hatched coup plot to over throw Mumbere.

Tibamwenda has been quoted saying that the Bakonzo are ready to
install him as their king in place of the jailbird Mumbere.

On Monday, government challenged the powers of Jinja High Court to
grant bail to Mumbere and as a result his bail application was deferred until Thursday.

It is on this ground that Prince Tibamwenda thinks that he should be installed as King and that the Kingdom cannot
stand without one.

It should be remembered that it is not the
first time Tibamwenda has vied for this Rwenzururu top seat. In 2008, before coronation,
Princes Mumbere (now Omusinga), Tibamwenda, Isingoma Kisalitha and Robert
Bwambale were lined up for the seat before Mumbere claimed it.

During that time, Prince Tibamwenda wrote to President Yoweri Museveni appealing to him to endorse the
Bakonzo/Bamba cultural institution saying it had existed since 1630. Tibamwenda,
in his letter, said he should be declared king of the kingdom of the Rwenzori.
I am fully prepared to be crowned and my
subjects are ready to do everything necessary for the ceremony to be a success
because we have waited long for the day,” Tibamwenda is quoted saying during a
meeting in Kasese.

Mumbere has been on remand at Luzira government prison
since last year after he was charged with murder, aggravated murder, treason,
terrorism among other charges arising from the November 2016 Kasese clashes.

On the 26th and 27th November 2016, joint security forces of the
Uganda People’ Defense Force (UPDF) and Uganda Police Force (UPF) attacked the
Rwenzururu Palace leading to the death of over 100 people and the subsequent
arrest of the Omusinga Mumbere
