Sick Mothers, Kids Stuck as Doctors Strike Starts to Bite


Nationwide strike by the Uganda medical association (UMA) has began to take toll on patients  hardly a day into the strike.

In a visit to Mulago national referral hospital, Telesqop Uganda found the Private wing open.

On the other hand, the Eye clinic was also open, but no health officer on spot.

In the causality ward, patients were all discharged including the new patients.

The pharmacy was out of access.

At Kisenyi health centre 4 ,operations were normal.

One of the nurses ,who only identified herself as Juliet said that she was not aware of the strike and that if she knew, there would be no way she could disappoint her colleagues.

At Kawempe referral hospital , pregnant mothers had to cough atleast Shs. 50,000 to get some medical attention.
