Thomas Wesley Pentz better known by his stage name Diplo, is an American DJ, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and record executive based in Los AngelesCalifornia.

His alias is a short for Diplodocus which he derives from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs.

Diplo is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project, Major Lazer.

Diplo has had Grammy nominations, including Producer of the Year, Best Dance Recording, and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Beyoncé’s “Run the World” sampled Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor” and sold over a million copies, cementing Diplo’s place in the pop world.

Diplo remains the go-to producer for the who’s who of the pop music landscape.
