“In Uganda, whenever you introduce yourself as one who earns off fashion, people are quick to ask if you have another stream of income other than that. But in actual sense, fashion leads many aspects of life. People are judged according to the way they dress. If anything, the way you dress defines you. It determines the way people perceive you and your employment. It is an essential. Why then can’t we make prosperous businesses out of it? The time is now for ‘Fashion to take over’. That said, I am very excited that the ASFA’s are giving young designers a platform to showcase the work of their hands. Also, I commend Brian Ahumuza for devoting time to this cause,” relayed an ecstatic Kasozi after the seminar.

Proprietor of the ASFA’s Brian Ahumuza, flanked by his General Adviser Olivia Nakitto Tibayeita took the designers through an hour long lecture on branding, marketing and other business elements necessary for budding designers to build successful fashion businesses.

“Every suburb in the country right now is littered with boutiques and fashion collectors. And the fact that they are thriving is testimony that Fashion has actually taken over. What makes you outstanding however is how you handle your business. The way you brand, market, communicate, treat your customers, and many other business aspects that are usually ignored determine whether or not your business will thrive,” said Brian in one of the sections of the seminar.

The SEED show designers (10) left the seminar excited. Many thanked Brian for the opportunity he had given them.

“This is a life changing seminar. It is like he was speaking to me. Every business mistake he cited was something I’d done before. The consequences he talked about are also some that I have suffered. I am truly grateful for this opportunity,” opined one of the designers.
